Cruising with Cobrowsing
Earlier this month, Zoom launched Zoom Cobrowse SDK. Cobrowsing, a portmanteau for “collaborative” and “browsing” has been around for a few years. SDK is a TLA, three letter acronym, for Software Development Kit.
Cobrowsing has become more popular as SaaS software has grown globally. It enables multiple people to navigate the internet together in real time. One of the best examples used to explain its purpose is that of a customer support agent helping a customer with a task such as filling out a form or setting up an account. If the use of the word “agent” fills you with dread, substitute that with customer service personnel or colleague, simply put there is more than one set of eyes looking at the same on-screen information. Is it safe? The old adage of “two eyes are better than one” often holds true, but most of us get concerned when we let someone else into our personal space. Advanced cobrowsing solutions often include privacy features that mask sensitive information like credit card numbers and passwords, ensuring customer data remains secure during a session. Typically, cobrowsing doesn’t require users to
download any software or plugins. It works through web browsers, making it easy for customers to join a session without the hassle of installing new applications. Software validates the domains of all parties involved, preventing spoofing. Annotation Tools Many cobrowsing platforms offer
annotation tools that enable users to draw, highlight, or comment on web content.
