What’s a premium or “high-end” mouse? Whilst each vendor would categorise their mice slightly differently, the best way of explaining premium mice is to say they can offer a high- quality point-and-click experience, and may have features like high resolution, customisable buttons and long battery life. As can be seen in the price chart below, the peak of SKU count in the channel is around £20, so Stock in the Channel analysts define all mice with an average guide trade price above £50 to be “premium”. One brand and their ergonomic mouse that is making waves is Contour Design’s RollerMouse which sparked the highest jump in the Trendsetter Rating metric. Over the past year, Stock in the Channel analysts have seen a slight shift in prices, where the average price of a premium SKU has come down by 2% in authorised distribution, where an influential factor could be the increase in stock held in authorised distribution by 8%. Greater availability and diversity of choice will lead to improved pricing levels in the channel.
